Working from home seems great — no commute, no annoying coworkers and no one to judge you for how many snack breaks you take. But working from home can get old quickly. Noisy neighbors, Netflix calling your name, and no office gossip to get you through the day can become, dare we say, boring!

If you need a break from the routine, take this show on the road and create a mobile office. We’ve got plenty of great spots with free WiFi and great coffee to keep you going throughout the workday. Grab your chargers, some headphones, and get ready to people-watch while you work at these local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants on LBI.

How You Brewin’

The recent expansion of How You Brewin’ in Surf City has made it the perfect place to work remotely. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, plus high tops and comfy chairs. The coffee here is some of the best on LBI (be sure to grab a bag of grounds to brew at home!). Skip the long line if you’re just after a cup o’ joe and hit the coffee bar instead. The hustle and bustle of How You Brewin’ makes it feel like you’re right back at the office.

The Local Market & Kitchen

If you’re looking to grab an Instagrammable latte and a homemade poptart, The Local is the perfect place to kick back with your laptop. The shaded outdoor area is a great way to get in some fresh air while you continue your 9-5 grind. Grab a cookie latte for a caffeine fix that’ll keep you going or come during your lunch break and grab one of their incredible sandwiches like the Caprese or the Cuban. The relaxed vibes here make it perfect for getting lots of work done.

Birdy’s Cafe & Artisan Market

If you find yourself in Harvey Cedars, Birdy’s Cafe & Artisan Market is definitely worth bringing your WFH setup on the road for the day. Grab your laptop and some sunglasses to work on Birdy’s porch under their umbrellas. They have an amazing food menu and fresh juices if you’re not really into coffee. Try out the green eggs and ham for the perfect midday pick me up. Choose a juice from their menu like the Dirty Bird with cucumber, lime, celery, apple, and ginger.

Whittingham Coffee & Tea

If you want a cozy work spot that feels a little different from your usual coffee shop, Whittingham is a great pick. Their coffee and tea menu is paired with plenty of comfy seating, so you can settle in for a productive morning. The best part? It’s inside Whittingham’s gift shop, which means when you need a quick break from your screen you can wander through books, cards, and unique finds before diving back into work.

At the end of the day, working remotely doesn’t have to mean staring at the same four walls. Long Beach Island has no shortage of inviting coffee shops and cafés where you can stay fueled, focused, and maybe even inspired. Whether you love the buzz of How You Brewin’, the fresh air at The Local, the porch vibes at Birdy’s, or the cozy calm of Whittingham, there’s a spot that makes logging on feel a little more like logging out. So grab your laptop, order your favorite drink, and turn your workday into a mini LBI escape.
