Dog-Friendly Restaurants on LBI (Approved by Our Fluffy BFF!)
Potato, our very good boy
All these new outdoor dining areas on LBI make us so happy, and not just because we are obsessed with dining al fresco… it means we can bring our dogs along to dine with us! We are always looking for an opportunity to show off our extremely photogenic pup, Potato (he's kind of a ham). We’ve scoped out some of the best LBI restaurants that would love to host your and your dog. These dog friendly-restaurants aren’t just approved by us, of course. Our dogs give these spots two paws up! Most of these spots will offer you an ice-cold water bowl and some treats for your pup, but be sure to come prepared just in case.
We know your dog is part of your family just like ours is; so grab a leash, load up the family in your car and get ready for some of the best dog-friendly places on Long Beach Island!
The Local Market & Kitchen
For the coffee-and-a-canine crowd
The Local is a beloved café for a reason — great food, better coffee, and an easygoing vibe. Dogs are welcome on the covered patio, and the Airstream out back serves breakfast and light bites without needing to go inside. Don’t forget to snap a photo of your pup next to the mural — it’s kind of iconic.
Woodies Drive-In
For the laid-back, beach-shack doggie
This walk-up burger shack is classic summer. You order at the window, your dog gets to sniff everything in the breeze, and you both post up at a picnic table. We recommend The Pickler (fried pickles on the burger), a root beer float, and a side of fries for you to “accidentally” drop.
Wally’s
For the dog who is part of the brunch squad
Wally’s back patio is totally pup-approved, complete with water bowls and sometimes treats for good boys and girls. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner — you can’t go wrong here. It’s BYOB and BYOD (bring your own dog), and you’ll always leave full and happy.
The Boatyard
For the dog who thrives in a social setting
The Boatyard is basically one big backyard party — picnic tables, live music, lawn games, and so many dogs. It’s a scene, in the best possible way. There’s plenty of space for your pup to chill while you sip frozen drinks and snack on lobster rolls.
The Arlington
For beer-loving dog parents
This cool, casual spot offers pet-friendly patio seating and craft beers galore. Dogs are welcome on the side deck, and the atmosphere is relaxed — great for dogs who just want to lie in the sun while you sample the menu.
Mud City
For the dog who doesn’t mind a short drive for maximum new-place-sniffs
Mud City’s outdoor patio is spacious and pup-friendly. With amazing seafood and plenty of shade, it’s a solid off-island pick for when your beach day turns into dinner plans.
Drift Beach Bar & Restaurant
For salty-air brunches and tail-wagging sunsets
This beachside favorite has a pet-friendly area where dogs are more than welcome. Come for brunch or lunch, stay for the ocean breeze and friendly vibes. Bonus: your pup can walk right onto the sand after you eat.
Barry’s Do Me a Flavor
For ice cream dates and burger cravings
With outdoor picnic tables and walk-up ordering, Barry’s is a fun, classic option that’s super easy with a dog in tow. Bonus: your pup might even score a lick of your cone.
Buckalew’s
For the pup who loves live music and porch snacks
Buckalew’s sidewalk seating is great for grabbing a casual meal with your furry friend. It gets lively in the evenings, so it’s perfect for social dogs who don’t mind a little noise with their nosh.
A Few Pro Tips from Potato 🐶
Bring a water bowl just in case — most spots provide, but it’s always better to be prepared.
Scope out shade before you sit. Dogs overheat quickly on sunny patios.
Be courteous: only bring your dog if they’re well-behaved around strangers, kids, and food.
Bonus points if you share your fries. Just saying.
Now You’re Ready for the Ultimate Pup Crawl
Whether you’re grabbing breakfast and cold brew, noshing on tacos and beer, or sipping wine at sunset, there’s no need to leave your dog at home. These LBI favorites are ready to roll out the red carpet for your four-legged foodie. :eash up, order something delicious, and don’t forget to tag us in your dog-and-dining selfies. Potato says hi. 🐾
