Our Favorite Gluten-Free Eats

With the plethora of food options on Long Beach Island, there’s something for everyone — even our gluten-intolerant friends! Skip the boring salads and opt for some GF faves like gluten-free cheesesteaks, sushi or even pizza. Gluten-free doesn’t have to mean boring or bland. There are tons of great and unexpected options up and down the island for every taste bud.

We know finding food that fits in your dietary restrictions — whether you have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance — isn’t always easy. Not sure where to start? We have you covered with the best of the best gluten free eats on LBI to indulge on.

Pietro’s

If Italian food is your jam, Pietro’s has to be your gluten free go-to spot. They have an entire menu dedicated to our gluten-intolerant friends. In addition to their gluten free pies, they also serve a mean gluten-free baked cheese ravioli dish that you can’t even tell is missing the flour. The best part? Just because it’s gluten free doesn’t mean they skimp on the portions here. Located just off the island in Manahawkin, you’ll be hitting this gluten-free haven once or twice a week.

Wally’s

Wally’s is the place to go if you or anyone in your party has dietary restrictions, including a gluten intolerance. If you’re swinging by for breakfast, dive into their gluten-free pancakes with ~all~ the maple syrup. If lunch or dinner is more the vibe, they have tons of options like loaded salads, blackened mahi mahi, and gluten-free buns to substitute on any sandwich. They also have amazing vegan and vegetarian options if anyone else in your party is meat free!

Gazebo Grill and Sushi Bar

Sushi is a staple in our diet and definitely an LBI favorite. One of our favorite spots for sushi (gluten-free and otherwise) is the Gazebo Grill and Sushi Bar. They have all your favorite classic rolls and then some. Service here is quick so you can get back to your day of sand and sun in no time. We love this gluten-free sushi shack, smack dab in the middle of everything in Beach Haven.

Mystic Lobster Rolls

Get in on the latest LBI craze — lobster rolls! Gluten-free style, obviously. Mystic Lobster Rolls can serve up any of their amazing lobster rolls on a gluten-free roll so you can join in lobster bliss with your friends. Choose from three different styles — Maine, Connecticut or New England style. Whether you’re opting for hot and buttery or chilled with mayo, be sure to pair with a pickle to make it a meal.

Dio’s Cafe

Beach food to us = cheesesteaks and french fries (duh). Dio’s Cafe in Surf City is serving up our greasy beach day fave gluten-free style. They take their gluten-free menu very seriously with a dedicated fryer and workspace just for gluten-free items. They have an entire menu of breakfast and lunch items all completely safe for those who suffer from Celiac. This totally adorable cafe is the perfect spot those who are gluten-free and those who aren’t!
